Our Approach
At Denver Executive Counseling, we don’t just help our clients feel better; we help them become better.
Sustaining change over time requires something much deeper than behavior modification. It requires a fundamental shift in your core beliefs about who you are.
Most Christians think that Jesus came to show them how to be a better caterpillar, so they expend tremendous amounts of energy trying to become the version of themselves they believe they should be. Yet the promise of Jesus is not that you will be a better caterpillar, but that you will allow the Spirit of God to transform you into a butterfly.
This promise of transformation requires only that you submit your life and will to God, trusting Him fully to complete his work in you. You are invited to participate with Him in this journey, but if this currently feels like a whole lot of work, then there’s probably something blocking you from fully surrendering.
For over two decades, this ‘surrender’ alluded to me. I tried to do it, and thought I was doing it, but I was unable to experience anything other than a performance-based gospel. If this is true for you, there is probably a mental or emotional blockage keeping you stuck. Counseling can help you discover what the blockage is, clear it away, and make space for the living God to change your heart in ways beyond what you can imagine.
Again, this comes down to surrender, not to effort. As Jesus reminds us: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:29-30, ESV. Emphasis added.)
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Engagement.
Most of us start out with a passion behind our pursuits, but over time, the grind of our daily work can get us down. Stress, anxiety, disappointment, failure, addiction, and relational dysfunctions all keep us from our authentic selves.
I help my clients reengage the world wholeheartedly, reemerging in their work from a place of strength and ease, even when the stakes are high and the responsibilities fierce.
Impact.
What are you most deeply compelled to give to this world in the time you are given? Have you lived this day in such a way that if you didn’t wake up tomorrow, you would be proud?
Each day is a new opportunity to make the most of the moments you are given. Let go of yesterday. Don’t worry about tomorrow.
Be present. Be truthful. Live free.
Endurance.
The greatest impacts are made over the long haul—not just years, but decades. Character must persevere. Hard work can only take you so far. It’s time to find a depth of character that can sustain the test of time.
There is strength in you beyond what you know to be possible. Come and find the strength only you can offer, and give the world the fullness of who you are meant to be.

Confidentiality & Security.
Your privacy is of the utmost importance. As a counseling client, you have the legal right to a fully confidential relationship with your therapist. At Denver Executive Counseling, we take this responsibility very seriously. We would never confirm or deny our relationship with any current or former clients. Electronic and physical records are protected with at least two layers of security. Clients are given full details of our confidentiality policy in writing during their first session.
The antidote to exhaustion is not necessarily rest. The antidote to exhaustion is wholeheartedness.
